As the sun shone we welcomed weekly lottery winner Kate Barlow from Shaw to the hospice where she collected the top prize of £1,000. Amazingly, Kate has only been playing our lottery over the last year, and she chose to play as a way of saying thank you for the care that her father-in-law received at Prospect Hospice.
“Playing the weekly lottery is a great and easy way for me to support Prospect Hospice, little and often,” she says. “I don’t play to win it, I play it because I want to continue to say thank you for all that the team there did for my father-in-law. I was thrilled and surprised though to get the call telling me that I’d won.”
Kate plans to spend her windfall when she meets up with a friend that she’s known for 20 years, who lives more than 200 miles away, for a planned ‘friendversary’. “I want to enjoy it on things that create great memories for my family, my husband and me,” she says.
